Can't open a track in sandbox
« on: 02/18/11, 11:33 AM »
Okay I'm trying to use sandbox to edit the SBP Daytona BR edition track to have smooth asphalt in the banking and then the new black surface. I go to open the track and it says that the flagger 3DO's can't load and that there's an error opening the track. I have unpacked it (duh) so any help would be nice.

If I remember correctly (been several years) alot of the tracks used the shared.dat file/folder for the flaggers, and they say you should unpack the stuff in the shared folder in the same spot as the track your working on.

I don't want to mess up what you are working on, so to be sure, I would ask the group over at www.nr2k3tracks.com and see what they say about it.

Look in the track's main folder and copy all the 3do and mip files from there and place them in the new folder that was created when you unpacked the track. Once you have those objects in the unpacked folder, the track should open in sandbox.

Also, make sure you have the shared.dat file unpacked inside of the shared folder.

thanks for the clarification. I knew there was more to it than what I had put.

I got it to work like 5 minutes after I posted this. I can't seem to figure out how to smooth it out though so I've given up. Thanks for the replies.
