CPU guys

I just ordered my new CPU and it has something on it called RAID, I was told it has something to do with the MOBO, do any of you computer guys here know exactly what it is. If it helps my mobo is an H-RS880-uATX by foxconn, and the processor is an amd AMD Phenom II X4 Quad core. I just never heard of raid before.

All of your RAID info is Here. Simply put, RAID allows you to configure how you want to store data across multiple Hard Drives.

Sage is correct. RAID in a nutshell is saving your data in multiple locations at the same time so if 1 were to take a dump, you have alternate copies.

Very few guys actually use RAID on a home PC. It's mostly for web servers with very sensitive information on them, or for a very high performance set up.

I've been creating websites for a living for 4 years and built them for 5 years before that and have not set up a raid server myself ever if that tells you anything.

Thanks guys for ya info. I dont know jack about hardware. All my knowledge is in software.
