2001 #3 Oreo Car posted by Cayce Rogers 06/12/10, 08:02 PM 375 4.96 (2 votes)
A special paint scheme for the 125's prior to the Daytona 500. The hood of this Monte Carlo had the Oreo Logo emblazoned across it. I did not particularly care for the car when I first saw it on the track, but the paint scheme has grown on me. This is the only Goodwrench car to have blue shading around the trim and familiar number 3.
1999 #3 GM Sign posted by Cayce Rogers 06/12/10, 07:47 PM 322 4.96 (2 votes)
Dale debuted this paint scheme at the 1999 Brickyard 400. While most of Dale's Goodwrench cars held the GM blue logo, this special paint scheme has the logo angled across the hood in white on black in the form of a dealership sign. Dale Earnhardt raced this car at the Atlanta Motor Speedway for the "Last Race of the Century". It featured a one time only black metallic (metalflake) finish to commemorate this race. There are additional secondary sponsors but the paint scheme is distinguished by the hood.
2000 #3 Taz Daytona/No Bull Car posted by Cayce Rogers 06/12/10, 08:07 PM 363 4.96 (2 votes)
This special paint scheme was for the 2000 Daytona 500 and shows the Tasmanian Devil on the hood. Dale and Dale Jr made a string of commercials with Taz, the most popular of which (IMHO) had Dale teaching Taz to drive while Jr sat in the passenger seat.
1998 #3 Coke posted by Cayce Rogers 06/12/10, 07:42 PM 343 4.96 (2 votes)
A special paint scheme. This is the first car he ran against Dale Earnhardt Jr. in, at the exhibition race in Motegi, Japan on November 22nd, 1998 (after the regular season).
1975 Dodge 10,000 RPM Speed Equipment posted by Cayce Rogers 06/12/10, 02:53 PM 205 4.96 (2 votes)
Earnhardt began his Winston Cup career in 1975, making his first start at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina in the longest race on the Cup circuit, the World 600. Earnhardt drove an Ed Negre Dodge Charger(#8) and finished 22nd in the race, one place ahead of his future car owner, Richard Childress.
1990 #3 Chevrolet Lumina posted by Cayce Rogers 06/12/10, 04:55 PM 224 4.96 (2 votes)
Dale drove this Lumina to his 4th of 7 eventual championships. The 1990 Lumina #3 marks the first year of four that Dale won stock car series championships driving a Chevy Lumina. This car shows the standard paint scheme in place for the 1990 racing season with the old style white border GM logo but again just with the word Goodwrench underneath the logo and Mac Tools in front of the rear wheel well. AC Delco would grace the angle frame. There are variants of this item that have Crane Cams on the front quarter panel and Western Steer on the rear quarter panel.
1980 #2 Mike Curb-Hodgon posted by Cayce Rogers 06/12/10, 04:16 PM 215 4.96 (2 votes)
This 1980 Olds 442 was raced only on super speedways in 1980, the year Dale Won his first of seven stock car series championships. Dale piloted this Rod Osterlund car (sponsored by Mike Curb/Hodgdon) in the firecrackers 400 in 1979 (race 20 at Talladega), his rookie season, finishing third. Mike Curb is questionably well known (at least) for the song "Burning Bridges", the title theme for the film Kelly's Heroes, recorded under the label Mike Curb Congregation. This yellow and blue paint scheme is similar to the 80 Monte Carlo with the difference in the Wrangler sponsorship not showing and the blue hood work being straight and not angled. The spoiler is apparent as is the chrome front bumper. This was the only Oldsmobile that Dale drove in his Winston Cup Career. The sole difference between this and the 1979-80 un sponsored incarnation is the spoiler color and the presence of the Mike Curb sponsorship.
1988 #3 GM Goodwrench posted by Cayce Rogers 06/12/10, 04:48 PM 216 4.96 (2 votes)
This was the first year of the Goodwrench Sponsorship and the beginning of the "Man in Black" tradition. It was October of this year in Charlotte that Childress unveiled the new all-black Chevrolet with the sinister #3 on the side, reflecting Earnhardt's "Intimidator" image. It took three races for Dale to earn a 3rd place standings in the points using this new scheme. This is also the first of two years in which Dale drove the Aerocoupe version of the Monte Carlo, also referred to as the Fast Back Monte Carlo.

Dale would finish this season 3rd,232 points behind champion Bill Elliot. By seasons end, he would lead over 1800 laps and he led in twenty of twenty nine races in the season. He gained 3 wins, thirteen top-5 finishes and nineteen top-10's. His efforts this year were rewarded with over one million in season earnings. Aside from being one of the only two Aerocoupe's, the difference from previous cars in that it was the more familiar Black #3. This particular paint scheme includes the GM Goodwrench logo on the hood, the GM logo on the angle frame and the Goodwrench name (not logo) on the rear deck lid. Note that the colors for the #3 logo was sometimes White and sometimes Silver.
2000 #3 Goodwrench Service Plus posted by Cayce Rogers 06/12/10, 08:00 PM 385 4.96 (2 votes)
Dale's standard paint scheme, the popular and long standing Black #3. Unlike the 2001 and the 2000 No Bull 76th Win, the Plus portion of the text on the hood of this car is red over the black background. The differences between this and the 1999 standard paint scheme include the Burger King Decal being the new corporate logo - circular pattern around the world as opposed to the "Hamburger Bun" look. The Purdue decal under the Snap-On decal in front of the rear wheel well in the 1999 version is not present on the 2000. The rear angle frame also has the Realtree logo. Dale would finish this season 2nd, 265 points behind champion Bobby Labonte.
1996 #3 AC Delco posted by Cayce Rogers 06/12/10, 07:11 PM 294 4.96 (2 votes)
AC Delco sponsored this paint scheme at the Suzuka 100 in Japan, November 24, 1996 (Post Season). It is a blue paint scheme car, not dissimilar to Jr's Busch Car with AC Delco the predominant sponsor. Unlike the 97 version, Action was a rear quarter panel sponsor and Snap On tools in the usual position. Japanese writing appears on the rear part of the a-frames.
1989 #3 Lowes Foods posted by Cayce Rogers 06/12/10, 04:52 PM 232 4.96 (2 votes)
This is the #3 Pontiac driven by Dale Earnhardt Sr. in a 1989 Busch race. Lowes Foods is the sponsor along with AC Spark Plugs on the trunk in.
1981 #2 Rod Osterlund posted by Cayce Rogers 06/12/10, 04:19 PM 213 4.96 (2 votes)
1981 Wrangler #2 Pontiac: After the first 16 races with Rod Osterlund, Dale would race for the 4th (?) and last time with owner J.D. Stacy, Dale drove the 1981 Pontiac #2 car sponsored by Wrangler, at Daytona, Nashville, Pocono and at the Talladega 500 (race 20). Dale left the team in August to drive the #3 car for Richard Childress, starting at Michigan. This paint scheme is readily identifiable through the 'sergeants stripes' pattern on the hood and the fact that this is a Pontiac. Dale only drove the Pontiac in Winston Cup in the 1981 season.
1978 #98 Rod Osterlund Ride posted by Cayce Rogers 06/12/10, 04:08 PM 212 4.96 (2 votes)
This vehicle theoretically launched Dale's career in the stock car series. This was an un-sponsored car owned by Rod Osterlund, which Dale drove in his 6th NASCAR event (actually his 6th ride and 9th start) at Atlanta (Race 29).  Rumors from DEI itself suggest that Dale only drove this in the Busch series, however, Dale Cline in "Remembering Dale Earnhardt" suggests otherwise. This car was driven only once in the last race of the season at Atlanta. Dale qualified 10th, lost a lap twice, and climbed back up to finish 4th out of 6 lead lap cars, against the likes of Darryl Waltrip and Cale Yarborough.
1987 #3 Wrangler Monte Carlo posted by Cayce Rogers 06/12/10, 04:44 PM 246 4.96 (2 votes)
This was the last year of the Wrangler sponsorship that had been with Dale since 1980. In this final year of the Wrangler primary sponsorship, Dale pulled his amazing "pass in the grass" maneuver at the annual All Star race at Charlotte in this car after 'wrestling' with Bill Elliot for several laps. This is also the car in which Dale captured his 3rd of 7 eventual championship titles. You can see that during these years, the car bodies were much closer to the street versions, with identifiable grills and headlight areas, although glass headlights had been removed by this time. This was the fastback version of the Monte Carlo. GM Goodwrench had increased its sponsorship, as can be seen by the decal on the deck lid. The window and angle frames had no sponsorship. Dale would dominate this Championship, winning by 489 points over contender Bill Elliot. This is the greatest point spread in the modern era.
1993 #3 GM Goodwrench posted by Cayce Rogers 06/12/10, 06:50 PM 193 4.96 (2 votes)
Dale drove this Lumina to his 6th of 7 eventual championships. This car shows the standard paint scheme in place for the 1993 racing season with the old style white border GM logo but again just with the word Goodwrench underneath the logo. Mac Tools would have a logo on the front quarter panel and a larger logo in front of the rear wheel wells. Western Steer shows at the decal on the rear quarter panel although by the Pocono race, Mom and Pops had become the rear sponsorship. The window frame held the AC Delco decal. A leader both on and off the track, Earnhardt proved once again in 1993 that his successes would be constant year after year. With six wins, two poles, seventeen top-5's and earnings over $3 million, 1993 was one of Earnhardt's best years. With the final eight races in the season, Dale's 304 point advantage dwindled to 72 points, then with four races left and the competition in hot pursuit, Earnhardt strove for a final drive towards victory. With a 126 point lead in the finale, he finished tenth and captured the championship by 80 points over contender Rusty Wallace. This would mark Jeff Gordon's rookie year.
1978 #96 posted by Cayce Rogers 06/12/10, 04:11 PM 203 4.96 (2 votes)
1978 Cardinal Tractor. Not clear whether or not this predated the Rod Osterlund sponsored #98. As the #98 is reported as Dale's 5th car and the Belden #19 the 4th, that suggests the #96 to be Dale's 6th car. However, according to Dale Cline in "Remembering Dale Earnhardt", Dale drove in 3 races in 1978 for Will Cronkrite in a Bud Moore car, starting with the World 600 in Charlotte, prior to joining with Rod Osterlund for his rookie season. That should make the Torino his 5th NASCAR ride. This suggested that the vehicle, along with its make, uncommon to the cup, was a Busch (Grand National) car only, which would then support the #98 as the 5th Cup car.
