Lucas Oil Font Help
« on: 01/28/12, 07:20 PM »
Can I possibly get someone to help out with the ID of the fonts in the main Lucas Oil and Lucas Oil Slick Mist logos? I plan on painting a car based off of the sponsor and the text logos are not easy to find. Thanks!

Posted is a png of the Slick mist logo, Thanks!

'Lucas' looks to be Helvetica Black with a -24.4 degree skew and compressed 95.8% horizontally.
'Slick Mist' is Ergoe (sometimes called Eras) Black with a -31.5 degree skew to it.

I went outside once. The graphics weren't all that great.
I suffer from CDO. It's like OCD, but in alphabetical order, LIKE IT SHOULD BE!
If you can't spill it, it ain't 'paint'!

The Lucas font that I have that matches is Helvetica LT Std Bold Oblique, then clicked bold and italic in the character palette in Photoshop, then skewed a little more italic.  This is good for all characters except the A, and it should be a little less italic.  The SlickMist is Eras Bold ITC Regular clicked italic then skewed some.  I know that sounds involved, but that's what I did to match the type.  Good luck!

It's funny, you both said basically the same thing... however, I do like sage and don't use italic, but instead skew by xx degrees... this way, I can repeat it easily for other words or for numbers, etc... if I use the same font on the same scheme.

just my 2 pennies worth.
