No Sprint Cup after 2016...imagine that? Now what I wonder?
-
To quote from nascar.com's press release on this, '...so we are very confident of moving forward in 2017 with an outstanding new partner.'
I take that to mean that NASACAR isn't going to shutter it's doors, especially since this was announced in December of 2014.
-
What I meant to say was no Sprint as a sponsor/partner for the Cup series in 2016...my statement above was misleading...thanks for the heads up on that Sage!

I like the heart check it gave!

:) :) :)

You know this brings to mind something that always bugged me...(ya I know you're all sitting on the edge of your seat sayin', "Geez, I wonder whatever that could be?")
I never cared for the calling of past champs like say The King, a seven time Sprint Cup Champion...I know for a fact that you'll find not a single "Sprint Cup" in King Richard's trophy case, or Cale's, or Dale SR's....
I get why they do it, but frankly, I don't care for it...heaven forbid we call someone a Winston Cup Champ!
-
I feel better now...thank-you

Highbank...I've always felt the same way when they do it with NHRA champs. And, when the title sponsorship seems to change every couple of years, it's even more infuriating. One year recently, they were calling the new *whatever class* champ the reigning 'Mellow Yellow _____ Champion' but it was the 1st year of the Mellow Yellow sponsorship. So if he/she won the championship the previous year, how then could they now be the reigning champ of a new sponsorship? It makes my puzzler hurt.
And, yes...better be sure to never mention the evil 'Winston'! Why, someone might think the wrong thing and/or have their feelings hurt.
-
Ya, it would probably make me start smoking....
-
I couldn't agree you more Highbank. If they need to call them something and they don't want to call them by their true title. Which would be Winston Cup Champion. Then why can't they just simply call them a NASCAR Champion? Richard has all his Winston Cup trophies in his museum. I don't see NASCAR going their changing everything to Sprint Cup. They still say Winston Cup on them.
