A Little Help Please
« on: 06/23/10, 12:50 AM »
Hey Guys,

I found Adobe Photoshop 7 in a box at my house so I installed it to try to learn to make some of my own cars. I downloaded the Cup10s Implala Template and customized a little to get the hang of things. I've got where I want it for now, but I don't know how to put it into the game. Any help is much appriciated.

Thanks!
This is what I have so far

Open your car in Photoshop.  Flatten the image, and go to the File menu and select "save as."  Under file type, select "targa" (.tga) and save it in the "imports/exports" folder in your N2003 game folder.  Once you've done that, start your game.  Go to the mod you want, and click on "opponent manager."  Click on "new."  You will be asked to name your file, and select what car it goes on.  I normally name mine something like "71skotnscs" or something like that.  You will want to select Chevy.  Once that is done, you should see a rotating car.  Click on "import," and find your .tga file in the list.  Hit OK, and your paint should be on there.  Sure hope I didn't miss anything, but give that a shot.

Awesome thanks! One more quick question, when I get template for the pitcrew and paint it, do I save it as a .tga in the exports and imports and then go into the game and select the car and use the paintshop in-game and import the crew I made?

don't use the paint shop, just stay right there in the opponent manager and select the crew tab and then import.

No problem.  Glad to help out.  Had many people help me when I was starting, so I'm just paying it forward.

Also, in response to skot71's 1st reply, there is no reason whatsoever to 'flatten' your image first. If you do you run the risk of losing the ability to alter any of your layers if you mess up and don't either revert the image back or 'Save As' a .psd first. To save your work as a .tga to be able to import it just hit the Ctrl+Shift+S keys which will launch the 'Save As' utility. Select 'Targa' from the 'Format' drop down window and follow the instructions above. Just a quicker (and safer) way of doing the above with a whole lot less steps.
I went outside once. The graphics weren't all that great.
I suffer from CDO. It's like OCD, but in alphabetical order, LIKE IT SHOULD BE!
If you can't spill it, it ain't 'paint'!

Sage is correct.  I was assuming you were starting with a layered .psd file, that's why I said use "save as", so it wouldn't flatten your layered file in case you wanted to make changes.
