sound packs- questions
« on: 08/23/10, 08:06 AM »
I know there are many sound packs out there, and I have seen only a  couple that have a chnager with them. Is this something that could be created? It would be nice if there was a sound pack changer program that would look at your NR2003 folder and give you options to select which ever sound pack you had in there. There are so many mods out, and they do not all go with the nascar sounds.

I was just wondering if any one has seen something like this instead of having to have one for each sound pack. Can it even be created?

It would be nice to have several folders in your sound folder that gave you the options:
When running a program like this, it would ask you:
Available sound packs - Original, 1970, 4 cyl, PTA, etc.
Please select:
Current active sound pack:

Any programmers interested?

There is a program called JoneSoft Generic Mod Enabler. This was suggested for use with rFactor but as the name suggests it is "generic" and can be used for NR2003. I originally ran across this on Rubbins Racin's rFactor forum. If it is still there, there should be a link and explanation how to set it up. Of course, the explanation is for rFactor so if you need help setting it up for NR2003 I will be more then happy to try to walk you through it. I use it only for my sounds, but you could use it for mods, tracks, effects, whatever. Everything just needs to be dumped into one main folder.

I went outside once. The graphics weren't all that great.
I suffer from CDO. It's like OCD, but in alphabetical order, LIKE IT SHOULD BE!
If you can't spill it, it ain't 'paint'!

very nice.

Will just have to figure out how to make it change names to "sound", then should be able to make it work. Let me know if any one has success as I will also try to get it working. It will have to play with file names some how, I would think.

Great find Matt, thanks.
Thanks for the links Sage. I did not have to google it. lol

No prob guys. Rich, here is how you need to setup your directory to get the sounds to work. Be careful and make sure that you remove one sound pack before enabling another, otherwise it could mix the sounds and you will get crashes.

1. BACKUP THE ORIGINAL SOUNDS!! Then delete the files from inside the "sound" folder but leave the folder.
2. Inside "Papyrus/NASCAR Racing 2003 Season" add a base folder for the JSGME to use as your "mod" folder. (I followed the instructions and called it MODS)
3. Inside "Papyrus/NASCAR Racing 2003 Season/MODS" add a folder for each sound pack you want to use (lets call our sounds "ORIGINAL_Sounds, LM_Sounds and 70_Sounds")
4. Inside each sound pack folder you must then add a "Sound" folder  (Papyrus/NASCAR Racing 2003 Season/MODS/LM_Sounds/sound)
5. Add all of the sound pack files to the corresponding "CAR_Sounds/sound" folder.

Hope that is clear!

seems pretty simple. I have a race tonight, but I will get it going tomorrow for sure. Thanks again.
I will let you know how it works out.
