2000 #3 Taz Daytona/No Bull Car posted by Cayce Rogers | 06/12/10, 08:07 PM | 365 | 4.96 (2 votes)
This special paint scheme was for the 2000 Daytona 500 and shows the Tasmanian Devil on the hood. Dale and Dale Jr made a string of commercials with Taz, the most popular of which (IMHO) had Dale teaching Taz to drive while Jr sat in the passenger seat.

2001 #3 Oreo Car posted by Cayce Rogers | 06/12/10, 08:02 PM | 377 | 4.96 (2 votes)
A special paint scheme for the 125's prior to the Daytona 500. The hood of this Monte Carlo had the Oreo Logo emblazoned across it. I did not particularly care for the car when I first saw it on the track, but the paint scheme has grown on me. This is the only Goodwrench car to have blue shading around the trim and familiar number 3.

2000 #3 Goodwrench Service Plus posted by Cayce Rogers | 06/12/10, 08:00 PM | 387 | 4.96 (2 votes)
Dale's standard paint scheme, the popular and long standing Black #3. Unlike the 2001 and the 2000 No Bull 76th Win, the Plus portion of the text on the hood of this car is red over the black background. The differences between this and the 1999 standard paint scheme include the Burger King Decal being the new corporate logo - circular pattern around the world as opposed to the "Hamburger Bun" look. The Purdue decal under the Snap-On decal in front of the rear wheel well in the 1999 version is not present on the 2000. The rear angle frame also has the Realtree logo. Dale would finish this season 2nd, 265 points behind champion Bobby Labonte.

Another special paint scheme. This one honors Sam Bass who painted many of the special cars for NASCAR Drivers. Dale drove this for several races, but personally did not like the look of the car.

1999 #3 Wrangler Special posted by Cayce Rogers | 06/12/10, 07:49 PM | 453 | 4.96 (2 votes)
As a former champion, Dale competed in the 1999 All Star race continuing his tradition of driving exciting special paint scheme cars. This one commemorates his early career relationship with both Richard Childress and Wrangler. Note that this is a very common collectible and is not rare as many would have you believe.

1999 #3 GM Sign posted by Cayce Rogers | 06/12/10, 07:47 PM | 324 | 4.96 (2 votes)
Dale debuted this paint scheme at the 1999 Brickyard 400. While most of Dale's Goodwrench cars held the GM blue logo, this special paint scheme has the logo angled across the hood in white on black in the form of a dealership sign. Dale Earnhardt raced this car at the Atlanta Motor Speedway for the "Last Race of the Century". It featured a one time only black metallic (metalflake) finish to commemorate this race. There are additional secondary sponsors but the paint scheme is distinguished by the hood.

1999 #3 25th Anniversary posted by Cayce Rogers | 06/12/10, 07:45 PM | 258 | 4.96 (2 votes)
This paint scheme is similar to the 1999 black standard with the exception of a silver deck lid commemorating the 25th Anniversary of Winston Cup Racing in NASCAR. There is also a Nabisco logo under the Snap On decal in front of the rear wheel well.

A special paint scheme. This is the first car he ran against Dale Earnhardt Jr. in, at the exhibition race in Motegi, Japan on November 22nd, 1998 (after the regular season).

1998 #3 Plus posted by Cayce Rogers | 06/12/10, 07:40 PM | 321 | 4.96 (2 votes)
This is the standard paint scheme for the 1998 racing season. Its hood just has the Red Plus lettering which distinguishes it from the following years paint schemes. Unfortunately, the same is true of the 1997 Goodwrench Plus where this scheme was introduced. The differences are that the 1998 paint scheme has a small red Coca Cola decal on the window frame and the skirting has a silver bar with a small black strip at the very bottom. A hard to spot set of additional changes are the NASCAR 50th anniversary decal at the bottom of the front window frames and the words "In Loving Memory T. Wayne" under the snap on tools decal ahead of the rear wheel well. Dale would finish this season 8th, a record 1400 points behind 3 time champion Jeff Gordon.
For years, Dale Earnhardt and The Superbowl of Stock Car Racing was a sore subject. Everyone, it seemed, emphasized that Dale had never won the Daytona 500. By 1997, he was the single most successful driver at Daytona since King Richard Petty. Dale won over 2 million dollars there; more money than any other driver in NASCAR history. He was a two-time winner of the Pepsi 400, held on the Independence Day weekend every July. Dale won the Clash, now hailed as the Shootout; the sprint race for the past years pole winners, six times. Dale had even been victorious in his half of the Twin 125 Qualifiers, the weekday races that set the field for Sunday's Daytona 500, an incredible 10 times. Yet, Victory Lane after the Great American Race had somehow eluded him for two decades. |

1998 #3 Bass Pro Shops posted by Cayce Rogers | 06/12/10, 07:35 PM | 302 | 4.96 (2 votes)
On May 16th, NASCAR held its thunderous All-Star Open race. In 1998, Dale drove a Bass Pro sponsored gold paint scheme commemorating NASCAR's 50th anniversary. An avid hunter and fisherman, it is no surprise that Dale's cars carried the Realtree decal. This special paint scheme was oriented towards the fishing side of his life. Dale has a 54 foot fishing boat called "Sunday Money" to reflect that fact that he bought it with his race winnings. Brooks and Dunn have a song called "Sunday Money" that is just one of several songs they had done about the intimidator. Dale can also be seen on the rear and sides of the Realtree hauler reflecting his other passion - hunting.

1997 #3 Godwrench Service posted by Cayce Rogers | 06/12/10, 07:23 PM | 240 | 4.96 (2 votes)
1997 Goodwrench Service Monte Carlo (1/64th and 1/25th Model): This is the standard paint scheme for the 1997 racing season. It bears the familiar GM logo and Goodwrench Service lettering on the hood. This was the first model where the headlight decals went from single color paint-over to the now more common faux-glass decal approach. The window frame has no decals and the Burger King decal is alone on the rear quarter panel. Dale would finish this season 5th, 494 points behind 2 time champion Jeff Gordon.

1996 #3 Monte Carlo posted by Cayce Rogers | 06/12/10, 07:17 PM | 252 | 4.96 (2 votes)
Dale achieved the track record at Watkins Glen and won the pole with this car, one week after a tough weekend at Talladega. The Watkins Glen pole award then became known as the "True Grit Pole". By now, you are probably wondering why I keep putting the word Monte Carlo behind the year and paint scheme. Dale did not always only drive Monte Carlo's. Again, the standard paint scheme in place for the 1996 racing season with the familiar GM logo and Goodwrench Service Plus lettering on the hood. You can see the paint outline of the headlights as this was before the use of faux-glass decals. The window frame bears the AC Delco red circle logo. Mom 'n' Pops graces the rear quarter panel as Burger King would not join the sponsorship until the following year.Dale would finish this season 4th, 330 points behind champion Terry Labonte.

1996 #3 Centennial Olympic Games posted by Cayce Rogers | 06/12/10, 07:14 PM | 332 | 4.96 (2 votes)
On May 18, 1996 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, Dale Earnhardt brought stock car racing to the world by driving the first car at a NASCAR event with the Atlanta Centennial Olympic Games logo. The event was viewed worldwide and was one of the largest happenings in Motor sports History. The car was driven in one race only and has been retired.

1996 #3 AC Delco posted by Cayce Rogers | 06/12/10, 07:11 PM | 296 | 4.96 (2 votes)
AC Delco sponsored this paint scheme at the Suzuka 100 in Japan, November 24, 1996 (Post Season). It is a blue paint scheme car, not dissimilar to Jr's Busch Car with AC Delco the predominant sponsor. Unlike the 97 version, Action was a rear quarter panel sponsor and Snap On tools in the usual position. Japanese writing appears on the rear part of the a-frames.
