Carviewer problem with Whelen
« on: 03/04/10, 05:41 PM »
Does anyone know how to change the rim color in carviewer in the Whelen mod?  It's not the biggest deal in the world, but it's frustrating.  It is NOT something I'm doing on my template.  I filled a jpg with all green and put it in, and the wheels are still dark blue.  Also, the window net is not showing up.  Is this something I'm doing wrong?  Thanks in advance for any help.

It's just not mapped properly by the creator... which I'm guessing might be Matt (kingda) since he did the in game work on that mod. I could be wrong though, it was just a guess.

It's possible to open the X file with notepad and scroll down through there and see what texture it calls for the wheels and window net and make sure that file is in the folder or change the filename of the texture to whatever the body uses, like card.bmp or whatever.

Thanks Robert.  I'll mess with that and see what I can do.

Wow, confusing.  I scrolled down the cavalier.x file, and towards the bottom, it said that the file it was looking for was troyer.jpg.  I changed it to cavalier.jpg, and it messed up the hubs.  They looked distorted.  Put the original cavalier.x file back in the folder, and it looked fine.  So it is getting the hubs and rim color from the troyer.jpg file.  On the Troyer.psd template, there is a spot for rim color, but it only changes the hub.  It picks the rim color somewhere around the hub.  See my pic where I added silver.  It picks the rim color somewhere within that area.  If that's not there, it picks the dark blue color from the mask.  The window nets are still not showing up, but I give up after tracking this one down.

So basically when you're painting a Cavalier, you have to change the rim color in the Troyer.  Argh.

At least you made progress! Now that you tracked it down I remember this issue... I did the same as you and just updated the troyer.jpg when I was updating rim color....

I think it would be easier to copy the Troyer's hubs to the Cavalier template.  That's another day's chore.
