Frederick "Fred" Lorenzen, Jr. (born December 30, 1934), nicknamed The Golden Boy, Fast Freddie, The Elmhurst Express and Fearless Freddy, is a former NASCAR driver from Elmhurst, Illinois. Active from 1958 to 1972, he won the 1965 Daytona 500. In 1971, Fred started 14 races in Ray Nichels' STP Plymouth with former driver Paul Goldsmith as his crew chief. He picked up 7 top-5s, 9 top-10s, and a pole position on the way to finishing 45th in the 1971 standings.
