Max 9 question

Does anyone out there have Max 8 or 9 running on a Microsoft Vista based computer?  Every time I try to install 3ds Max 9, when I start it up it will not run.  I have heard that if you go into the properties of the program, you can default it to run in Windows XP SP(2) mode, does that work??

Excuse the lack of knowledge on my part, I just don't want to do anything that will screw up my computer (my wife would kill me).......

For me, with my laptop, I run Vista and 3dsMax8.0 sp3 and I have no problem !!!!  and for Max9.0, I don't know ?

I'm running Vista Home Premium and have max 8,9,2008, 32 and 64bit and 2009 32 and 64bit installed and yes they all run fine. The only problem with 9 is that the dds plugins dont work. They posted a fix at Autodesk but it didnt work for me. In other words max 9 is the only one I cant load dds textures in.

One other question....

Did you guys have to go through all the steps I outlined?  I understand from some further checking, that Max 9 will run on Vista after the installation of Service Pack 2.  Is this true??

I went thru no steps. Just the usual. Install then install every update available for that version.

I finally installed it with SP1 and SP2 and it worked..  Now to find Brazil.....and get it working too...

WOW Smoke, that's a lot of Max ya runnin.
I was running max 9 and 2008 with Brazil on vista Ultimate
