Last Thursday night my Wife, Brother and Sister inlaw and Myself
went to the Horners Guild Banquet at the Mansion House London.
We arrived at the Walbrook Entrance and walked through a Honor Guard
of Royal Air Force Pilots who had all flown combat mision in Afghanistan.
We were then escorted to the Salon where Champange was served.
after 30-40 minutes a Fanfare was sounded and we were called to be a
announced, The Master of Ceremony dressed in Ermine Robes and
cap
holding a 6 ' staff which he banged on the floor 3 times,
then called MY LORD's LADY'S and GENTELMEN
Mr & Mrs CLIVE GRAINGER. we then were introduced to the Master of the Guild
and the other Lord's and Lady's that are part of the Guild.
We then sat for dinner, during which a orchestra played from the gallery.
At one point a lone Trumpet sounded from the gallery to be answerd by another
lone Trumpet from the gallery at the other end of the hall, they started to duel
( think Deliverance but classical and trumpets) it was fantastic.
After dinner speeches were made and carriages were called.
We are booked for next year.
