Need Some Car Template Repair Assistance
« on: 07/30/10, 07:31 AM »
About five years ago, someone painted this car for me. Yesterday I loaded it into the regular cup series, which is what it was made for, and remembered it has never lined-up properly in the RF fender and hood areas.

It is a fairly nice looking car which I have not seen made in a while. Would like to get it up and running.

Could someone fix this template so it looks right in the "Cup Series" ?
I have attached a RAR File with the TGA and car file.

Thx for any help

Steve

I'm confused. What is it that couldn't 'line up properly'? There's nothing on the RF fender/hood except white. The only thing that crosses the two planes is the headlight. That sounds more like a template creation problem than a 'paint alignment' problem. If we don't know what doesn't align how can we fix it?

OK. I loaded the .car file and it looks like the 'paint' was done on the wrong model. In other words, while it looks like a 'Chevy' it seems to be on the wrong body type, as though someone put all of the Chevy parts on a Dodge/Ford/Pontiac. Whatever happened it's definitely screwed up. I can't really say if it's salvageable or not, but since it's such a simple scheme, it might be easier to just redo the whole thing. The added benefit of that is that the templates are so much nicer these days. Something to think about.
I went outside once. The graphics weren't all that great.

If you can't spill it, it ain't 'paint'!

I agree with Sage it would be a nightmare to try and salvage the paint!

Since I couldn't update my previous post...maybe something like the attached?
It's a .tga so you can probably just unzip it to your exports_imports folder and put it ingame via the 'New' driver protocol.

Hopefully this will help show the problem. The car is ok all over except for the front.

Also, if you pop it into the cup series and look at in the spinning driver info area, you see the bad frt end clip.

The attached is from a car-viewer shot using the Win7 Snippet Tool

Is that the TGA file that Sage posted? If it is you must be importing onto the wrong model because I rendered it just above from Sage's TGA file and I don't have that funky front end!

Yep! Sage has helped me out several times now. Now there will be a big race at Dega between Jo' Rocket, In-N-Out and the Krispie Creme cars.

I also popped his version into my BGN series. Still looks great.

PS

I like Sage's RC logo on the rear under the spoiler.
