You need a double sided mat not 2 sided for a car. You would use 2 sided for windows.

I could be wrong but I think 2-sided means render the same mat on the front and back-face, where double-sided might use a completely different mat for the backside of the faces.

I could be wrong also but is it even possible when you only have single poly's? Maybe add a shell modifier?  Just a guess. I might play around with a asa model when I get home tonight.

Yep, double-sided creates a material that has 2 materials, one material assigned to the front faces, the other to the back faces.

I tried that, but could not get it to work as well. The inside is either clear, or shows the painted template. Could be missing something. the double sided material sounds like it would do exactly what he wants, but does not seem to work.

When you asign a double sided material (which is in the material list) to that carbody there no way your going to get A: invisible inside B: paint on both sides unless you assign it as such. A double sided mat is simply that it has 2 sub mats: 1 for inside and 1 for outside.
