I would.  The modified version of Caraway is much improved over the original in my opinion.

Again, I'd also go with the Modified version.  For short tracks, I like the added grip built into the "Modified" versions.  Otherwise, without that added grip in the short tracks, I have found that they are practically impossible to race on against the A.I. or even online.  Just my own personal preference.  All of the short track projects I have worked on I have added extra grip to make them more realistic and enjoyable.

Well, not really.  It will vary from track to track.  But start with the asphalt grip for short tracks up at around 1.29 or so and go up from there.  It all boils down to feel and setup.  When I work on A.I. for a track, the key to my work is finding a very good setup to start with.  One where I can feel the car under me without feeling like I'm driving on "black ice" or on the edge or loosing it at any moment.  That's why I use setups from some of the very best setup guys in the business.  Then I adjust the amount of grip from there.  Hope that helps you.

Calvin, all short tracks are made differently.  Sometimes the creators of the track assign different grips on the racing surface other than asphalt.  For instance the bottom groove might be asphalt grip, the middle groove concrete  and the top groove paint.  The only way to know for sure is to open the track in Sandbox and look.  But if you're not familiar with Sandbox and just want to fiddle with the grip settings in the track.ini, then to be on the safe side, make all your grips the same.  So if you increase the asphalt grip up to 1.35, then make it 1.35 for both the concrete and the paint as well.

And here's another trick... say the asphalt grip is 1.05.  If you want to increase it to 1.30, then put a semi-colon in so you'll remember what the original grip was, like as follows:

track_asphalt_grip = 1.30  ;1.05

Anything after the ";" is not read by the game.

Good luck experimenting.  It's one of the great features of NR2003.  You can tailor the feel and experience to your own liking.
