Carviewer problem
« on: 10/13/15, 08:50 PM »
Has anyone ever had this error pop up?  I was using Carviewer, had done the print screen to paste into Photoshop for one view, and it worked.  When I went to click back on Carviewer, it had an error message, but it disappeared before I could read it.  I think as soon as I clicked back on Carviewer it quit.  When I tried to relaunch it, I got the following message. I'm running Windows 7.  I had a copy of Carviewer on my flash drive, and copied it to my computer, but that didn't fix it.  Any ideas?  Thanks in advance!

Try going to Start > Run > Dxdiag > Enter > and then click the 'Display' tab. Check to see if both DirectDrawAcceleration and Direct3DAcceleration are enabled. If one or both are not enabled then you may have a problem with your video card as, I believe, the error code is related to Direct3D.

Thanks Sage!  I'll try that tonight, or tuesday, when I'm back from vacation.

For both DirectDrawAcceleration and Direct3DAcceleration it says "not available" when I do that.  Any other ideas?  Thanks for the help!  It's much appreciated.

From what I can find online, your video card seems to be integrated into your computer (Dell?). It also seems to be made by Intel. Can you find current / updated drivers for your video card online? Maybe either from the manufacturer (Dell?) or Intel? I would think / hope that updating your video drivers will fix the problem.

Another thought...did you happen to get a disc with your computer? You might be able to re-install your video drivers from it.

Thanks Sage.  Bought the computer used on Craigslist.  So no discs.  I will try to find updated drivers and go from there.

Computer checked online and said driver was up to date.  Ugh.

1. Did this just start happening (as in...it worked before)?
2. Did anything change recently?
If something changed recently...
3. Did you try 'System Restore'? (Start>All programs>Accessories>System Tools> System Restore).

If CarViewer worked before and if something changed recently (it could something as innocuous as a Windows Update) and you know about when that was, you might be able to back up to an earlier Restore Point to when CarViewer worked.
