2011 Camaro SS Project Completed
« on: 11/19/11, 02:02 AM »
Everything by me.
Approx 100 hours.
100% Mental Ray (including the studio scene & lighting setup)

Thank goodness for google reference images, tutorial searches, and a whole lota' patience on my end. I have fiddled with this for the last three weeks almost on a nightly basis. The more I look at it the more I want to fix but the more I try and fix the more complex it gets so I decided to call it good.
The interior I might do a little more on but for now it's all smoke and mirrors for rendering purposes.

Hope you like it.
Comments always appreciated.

No.

Actually my very first attempt was this mustang but I never really finished it. Mainly because I wasn't happy with it so I kind of gave up on it and threw it away. I think now that I have a little bit better grasp on modeling and a few more how to's under my belt, I may re-do the project with a different approach this time.

If I was more comfortable in max I could probably knock a ton of hours off the Camaro but when you start something like the windshield wipers not having any clue how you're going to make them, there is a lot of doing, deleting, and doing over again. This happened on several of the car parts. The tail lights and the tail light panel were a major pain in my rear. I cant count how many times I did that area to get it even close. A guy could easily pull his hair out and go bald. I'll keep plucking away at it though and hopefully one day I will be as comfortable at max as I am in Photoshop.  :-[

Thanks for the comments guys.
Here's a pic of the crappy mustang. (my first attempt of a car of any type)

That's the problem with being a perfectionist Cayce, you see all kinds of things that look bad to you when 99% of people wouldn't see the flaws if you pointed them out.

That Mustang is nothing to be ashamed of at all, in fact for your first car model from the ground up, that is beyond fantastic!

Very nice stuff Cayce. This program is very addicting. and like you said, once you start something, it just keeps growing out of control. That is why I say it is like being a kid again with legos. I used to spend hours and hours playing with them as a kid, now, Max is my lego. Keep up the great work man. Looks awsome!

I agree with Brian... you're doing some very difficult models for 'starters'... you have got to be somewhat pleased with the results. I would be. Again great job.
